Frequently asked questions.

How can I book a session?

You can book a session or request a meeting by contacting us here on our website, email, or phone. We generally can book at least 2 weeks out. Booking at shorter notice is sometimes possible, however the shorter the notice the more likely that time is already booked.

What do I need to do to book a session?

A deposit equal to one half of the cost of the total session time will be required to book your desired time and date. On the day of, the remaining balance is to be payed at the end of the session. You session will start at the agreed upon time even if you are late. Please aim to be on time to get the most out of your booked time.

If I need to reschedule do I lose my deposit?

As long as your are giving 48 hour notice we can reschedule using that same deposit. Anything less then 48 hours notice will forfeit your deposit.

What do I need to bring to a session?

We have an array of high quality instruments and gear for you to use should you need it. However, if there are pieces of gear you consider absolutely necessary to your musical process, please bring those with you (such as guitars/pedals etc). Scratch tracks (to a click) are also helpful if you have the ability to record them and any backing tracks will need to be emailed to us for that session. We also recommend bringing an external hard drive if you are wanting to take home any recorded tracks from your session.

If I only have acoustic guitar and vocals written for a song, can you help make a full band recording?

Absolutely. Our production team can work with you to get your song(s) arranged for full band and our network of seasoned musicians can help write and record parts to build it up in a professional and timely manner. We keep this process very collaborative because we want to make sure we do the best we can to make you happy and to make your vision come to life.

How much does it cost to record a song?

This question can have many different answers and depends on several variables. The studio charges an hourly rate and it is up to you to use any time booked efficiently by not showing up late, being prepared with your music and being ready to work. Also, arrangement and instrumentation can impact the amount of time and cost of a project. We will work to get a timeline and cost estimation that will work with you and your budget to make the best use of your time booked.

Do you offer any packages?

Depending on the scope of work we can work with you to build a package specific to your needs. Before starting your project, contact us and we would be happy to set up a meeting to discuss all aspects of your vision in order to create a quote.

What is the process of a session?

At the beginning of a session we will set up any necessary equipment for recording including instruments and mics. We will then record a scratch track with scratch vocals (if you do not have one) and then start tracking the needed instrumental parts. The order of instruments recorded is flexible to the material being recording.

I’ve tracked everything for my song, now what?

After tracking all the parts for your project whether it's singer/songwriter, full band or even a podcast, it will need to be mixed and edited. Editing will clean up the audio tracks themselves or improve slight performance issues such as timing and pitch. Mixing will then take all of those tracks and balance them together using tools like volume automation, panning, EQ, compression, reverb and other processing to bring out all of the best sonic qualities within your project.

If I recorded my tracks at home or somewhere else can you mix it?

We would love to mix your project. We can get files from you via a hard drive, cloud storage link or email. If you are sending individual tracks we ask them to be labeled in a way that is easy to understand as well as everything be “zero’d” to the same starting point. We use Pro Tools as our main DAW so we can accept Pro Tools session files as well.

After my song is mixed do I need to get it mastered?

Getting a track mastered is the final step and an important one at that. Not only does it add that last bit of polish to take it to 11. Mastering also prepares your track for whatever medium your are releasing it on like digital streaming, CDs or even vinyl while keeping it up to modern audio standards.
